Introduction
Measuring the correct V Band Clamp size is important, as this will help ensure you get the right clamp. The components that make up a V Band Clamp are the Flange and the Sleeve. The Flange is typically fixed to one component, while the Sleeve with its loose ring moves freely over the flange and allows for removal or installation of another component such as an exhaust pipe or intake tube. With these two components in mind, it's easy to measure for a V band clamp. The key dimension here is what we call "Outside Diameter of Flange". This simply means measuring from outside edge to outside edge of the flange (see image). To properly measure this diameter, we recommend using Digital Calipers like these shown below:

The inside diameter of the Flange is 2.5".
The length of the Flange is 2.5".
The width of the Flange is 2.5".

The inner diameter is 2.5".
The thickness of the flange is 0.062".
How to measure for a V Band Clamp
To measure a V Band Clamp, you will need to take the following measurements:

Outside diameter of flange - This is the outermost measurement of your shaft. If it's not listed in your manual, measure with a caliper or micrometer.

Inside diameter of flange - Measure this using a micrometer or caliper if it's not listed in your manual.

Thickness of flange - This is the thickness of the metal at its thinnest point (not including any threads). It should be measured with a caliper or micrometer if it's not listed in your manual.

Thickness of band - If you have an older model that uses a band instead of clamps, take this measurement from one end to another end to get an accurate picture of its length and width so that you can order replacements ahead of time when necessary!
